The Tampere International Music Jam are a collection of musical people, from beginners to professionals, who like to get together, and play music. It is a simple concept, where we put the words and the chords on the TV screens, and we start playing.
It doesn't matter what you play (or even if you don't play anything at all), you are very welcome to join in. Our current members play everything including guitars (acoustic & electric), ukuleles, drums, percussion, cajons, violins, flutes, keyboards and more. Some people just turn up and sing-a-long, or enjoy the music.

The start of the session begins with simple songs, aimed at beginner musicians, and played at a slow pace, focusing on helping beginners, especially on the ukulele. As the evening progresses, we start playing a wider range of songs, providing room for instrumentals, improvisation, etc. At the end of the evening, we start taking requests, and experimenting a bit more.
If you don't play ... come anyway!!!!

We have some spare ukuleles (if you want to join in and learn ... it is really easy ... you will be able to play songs like "Let It Be" in about 20 mins). If you don't have an instrument, send us a message, we may have some spares. Bring your own instrument with you if you have it ... if you have a spare, and you feel generous to lend it out, please feel free to bring it along as well.
The first part of the evening is great for new players / beginners. We will have spare ukuleles for new players as well.

This is a great chance to meet a really nice crowd of internationals and Finnish people. The music we play is wide and varied (from Abba, to Britney, to Johny Cash, Greenday, Oasis, The Beatles ... anything goes as long as it is in our songbook), and the focus is about joining in, not necessarily playing perfectly, but having a go. Actually, the real idea is about meeting a group of really friendly and welcoming people with similar interests and a chilled outlook on life.
